
Energy guzzling 100W bulbs were phased out in 2009 and 60W incandescent light bulbs on 1 September 2011. In 2012 all the remaining bulbs will disappear from the shelves.

Many households have been reluctant to switch to low energy bulbs, but since their launch, the technology for has greatly improved; no longer do they take a while to 'warm up' and you can also buy bulbs to work specifically with dimmer switches.
