Lucent downlight is made from 86% recycled materials

UK downlight brand Lucent says its latest luminaire is made using 86 per cent recycled materials.

Additionally, 90 per cent of the components of the Mix85 range are recyclable.

Lucent says that ‘sustainability has been a key driver’ in the development of the range, which has been ‘designed for longevity and easy maintenance, helping to reduce premature replacements and offering a more considered, responsible approach to lighting design’.

The Mix85 delivers up to 1,775 lumens with an energy efficiency of up to 133 lumens per watt. It exceeds the energy efficiency requirements of Part L2 of the UK Building Regulations.

The luminaire is also compatible with all Lucent 50mm modules, including Quantum, Ambience WarmDim, Dynamic White, SuperSpot, Ultra, LED50 One Gen3, and Shallow Height.

Mix85 is available in a wide range of finishes, from white, black, and custom RAL options to five premium plated choices, including polished chrome, polished brass, polished nickel, antique bronze, and antique brass.

It also allows for up to two accessory lenses or honeycomb louvers, offering additional customisation to suit specific project needs.

There is a selection of kits available for all ceiling types, from plaster trimless to wood, stone, and plasterboard.

Last year, Lucent won both a Gold and Green Build Back Better Award in the lighting category for the sustainability credentials of its Oculus Mini downlight.

The recessed eyeball luminaire achieves a TM66 rating of 2.5 for ‘excellent circularity’ and is manufactured in the UK using 89 per cent recycled materials.

The modular design supports Lucent’s ProCycle scheme, ensuring the fixture remains in circulation for at least 20 years.

This platform allows for easy upgrades and repairs to the LED technology, significantly extending the product’s lifespan.

The modular approach eliminates the need for tools during installation, demounting or maintenance, distinguishing the Oculus Mini from its competitors.
