Big brands back Circular Lighting Live 2023

Circular Lighting Live specifiers

A slew of big industry brands have announced that they’re backing the dedicated sustainability event Circular Lighting Live 2023.

Signify is the platinum sponsor, while gold backers include Feilo Sylvania, Glamox Luxonic, Trilux, Holophane Europe, Urbis Schréder, ASD Lighting, Bell Lighting, EGG Lighting, Silent Design, TRT Lighting, Llumarlite and The Regen Initiative.

The Recolight-organised event sold out on its inaugural launch in September and will move to a bigger venue, the Royal College of Physicians in London, and take place on Thursday 21 September 2023.

Recolight says the venue will allow for more delegates, extra dedicated tracks of presentations and an enlarged exhibition area.

With 250 registered attendees from specifiers, manufacturers and suppliers, the one day conference, which took place on 22 September, discussed how the lighting industry can make the circular economy a reality.

Chaired by Ray Molony, editor of Circular Lighting Report, the conference room heard key presentations on forthcoming EU and UK legislation, and the plethora of different environmental metrics that exist, including assessments of circularity (TM66), embodied carbon (TM65), environmental product declarations, and life cycle assessments.

Practical discussions included how to encourage more remanufacture and reuse in the lighting sector.

The pivotal role of the specifier in encouraging more sustainable lighting was tackled by two panels, both composed of five experts, drawn from across the industry.

‘We’ve listened carefully to the feedback from delegates and have now expanded the exhibition to include many more brands which match the aims and values of the event,’ said chairman Ray Molony. ‘We are also introducing a dedicated track for lighting specifiers such as independent designers and consulting engineers, as their needs are slightly different from our manufacturer audience.’
