DW Windsor has launched Sierra Solaflex, what it calls a ‘milestone innovation’ in solar street lighting that’s made from recycled aluminium and includes an adjustable solar panel and battery pack.

All-in-one luminaires typically feature an integrated horizontal panel, which offers a clean aesthetic but limits energy capture.
The Sierra Solaflex features a tiltable photovoltaic panel that can be repositioned to face south while the lantern aligns with the road or pathway. This flexibility maximises solar exposure in any location, supporting consistent lighting performance even during the winter months, helping ensure reliable, year-round operation.

The light is available in three versions: Solaflex, Solaflex Plus and Solaflex Hybrid. All models feature a Hybrid Passivated Back Contact (HPBC) 50W integrated solar panel with 25 per cent efficiency and a 576Wh lithium iron phosphate battery for energy storage.

The base model includes a programmable MPPT solar controller and an integrated PIR sensor, while the Plus version introduces additional control and connectivity features through a new D4i driver.

This system enables the connection of sensors and control devices through Zhaga sockets. Options include enhanced PIR sensors and photocells, as well as Bluetooth or CMS connectivity via a compatible DC node. Finally, the Hybrid version combines solar and mains power, offering higher light levels and guaranteed illumination in all conditions.

Sierra Solaflex is available with a choice of Diamond+ optics, providing precise and efficient light control for roads, pathways, and area lighting applications.

The range supports P lighting class installations, ensuring compliant illumination across a variety of exterior environments.

Constructed from recycled die-cast aluminium, Sierra Solaflex is designed for long-term durability in demanding environments. It features high-transmission toughened glass with IP66 protection and a marine-grade coating, as standard, ensuring reliable performance in harsh weather conditions.

The luminaire has been wind tunnel tested for stability even with the panel fully open, while toolless entry and SupportTag® simplify installation and maintenance.

Neil Parrott, product design director at DW Windsor, commented: ‘Sierra Solaflex delivers the simplicity and clean aesthetics specifiers want from an all-in-one solution while addressing the performance limitations typically associated with them. With its adjustable panel, expanded control options and hybrid capability, it offers a dependable and flexible approach to sustainable exterior lighting.’
