Trilux unveils luminaire that’s 80% recyclable

Trilux E-Line NEXT LED

Trilux has unveiled the E-Line NEXT LED, a luminaire that’s 80 per cent recyclable.

The linear LED luminaire – which has already been nominated for a Build Back Better Award for its circularity and sustainability credentials – features an efficacy of up to 190 lm/W and life of 70,000 hours, representing a 61 per cent improvement in environmental performance over its predecessor.

An imaginative packaging and transportation system, known as the LED shuttle, has dramatically reduced the need for cardboard and Styrofoam. It has already saved 9.7 tons of Styrofoam and 95 tons of cardboard.

The E-Line NEXT LED is designed to be easily refurbished, which allows it to replace outdated, inefficient T5/T8 strip lighting quickly and easily (it takes just 44 seconds to convert a conventional T5/T8 E-Line to LED technology without tools.) This helps to extend the life of the product.

With its modular construction E-Line is designed to be easy to repair, which helps to extend its lifespan and reduce the amount of waste going to landfill.

The product is also designed to be compatible with a variety of light

management systems, which gives customers the flexibility to upgrade their

lighting system as their needs change.

Measured in terms of abiotic depletion potential, the current version is more than 61 percent better for the environment than its predecessor.

Trilux says the product is the result of long-term engagement in international projects like Repro-light and SUMATRA (SUstainable use of MATerials in future luminaire designs – from Recycling back to Application) which have  enabled the company to set itself new energy efficiency and light quality goals.

For example, the new central warehouse New Logic III in the Netherlands achieved a BREEAM-NL completion score of 99. 48 per cent with four stars and an ‘Outstanding’ rating, making it one of the most sustainable logistics properties in the world. Two thousand seven hundred thirty-eight installed E Line NEXT LEDs and the Livelink Premium lighting management system contributed to its success.
