Architectural lighting brand has achieved a platinum EcoVadis rating for its commitment to sustainability, social responsibility and corporate ethics.
EcoVadis is one of the world’s most respected providers of sustainability ratings, evaluating companies across key areas, including environmental impact, labour and human rights, sustainable procurement, and ethical business practices.
Achieving Platinum status puts the Austrian luminaire maker in the top 1 per cent of all assessed companies.
Recently the company’s Enviva louvred light was awarded Cradle to Cradle Certified® Full Scope in Bronze according to product standard version 4.0.
With an efficiency of up to 184 lm/W and an optical efficiency of up to 95 per cent, Enviva has a slim profile of just 15 mm and provides direct and indirect lighting as well as glare-free working light (up to UGR ≤ 10 / 65° ≤ 1500 cd/m²).
It’s made with extruded profiles made from hydro low-carbon aluminium and is available in raw aluminium, black or white. Hydro low-carbon aluminium is an aluminium produced using renewable energy from water and wind power. With only a maximum of 4.1 kg CO₂-eq per kilogram, it produces around 75 per cent fewer emissions than the global average for conventionally produced aluminium.
Additionally, the clearly separable components allow for optimal recycling. Each component can be dismantled using a patent-pending mechanism and separated without tools – from the aluminium profile to the electrical components.
All connections use a simple click mechanism. There are no screws and no adhesive. This means that the individual parts can find their way back into the loop.
XAL says it meets strict science-based requirements for Material Health, Product Circularity, Clean Air & Climate Protection, Water & Soil Stewardship, and Social Fairness.Âą
An optional sensor detects presence and daylight and only switches the light on when someone is present. It also automatically adjusts the brightness depending on how much additional light is needed in the space.
This latest version has seen the total weight of the luminaire reduced by 45 per cent, allowing for easier handling and transport.
Cradle to Cradle Certified® Bronze is the foundational level of the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute standard, verifying that products meet strict criteria for material health, product circularity, clean air, water stewardship, and social fairness. It ensures materials are safe, non-toxic, and designed for reuse or recycling, marking an initial step towards a fully circular economy.
