Here’s our top 10 stand-out innovations in sustainable lighting from Light+Building 2026:

1 Flora
LED Luks
These elegant 3D-printed pendants are made from bio-based polylactic acid with 40 per cent recycled wood fibres. The range comes in four shapes, Seed, Drip, Bloom and Cone, in an earthy brown with varies by batch.

2 Eigenwilicht
Lisa Scholbach
Lisa Scholbach was one of the emerging young designers showcased at Light+Building. This pendant uses and celebrates the spiral-grain veneer, a material usually rejected in industrial word product due to its unpredictability.

3 ILO Natur
LED Luks
This variant of the brand’s profile range is made from HDPE which is derived from sugarcane. As the plant captures CO2 as it grows, LED Luks says the light has a negative carbon footprint on -212 kg CO2/kg for the raw material.

4 CLP
Bega
Bega’s enormous stand found room for what it calls its ‘Continued Life Program’, a remanufacturing service which offers upgrades with new Bega components. It promises to keep spare parts available for 20 years.

5 Trail 54 bollard
Uno Nove Sette
Made from reconstituted bamboo, this is a bollard version of the brand’s Trail 54Q recessed and louvred steplight. It can deliver glare-free light even in harsh salt-air environments. There’s a choice of four colour temperatures.

6 Green 221
Wago
German electrical component giant Wago showcased green versions of its much loved 221 lever connector. Th range uses 77 per cent bio-circular material for the housing and 27 per cent recycled PBT in the levers.

7 Upgrade kits
RZB
As part of its 360 degree Renovation programme, German brand RZB has developed plug-and-play LED gear-tray upgrade kits for its popular luminaires. Which begs the question: why isn’t everyone doing this?

8 Remanufacturing service
Zumtobel
Remanufacturing is now officially available for four of the brand’s top ranges, including the Tecton II linear multifunction range, the Vivo II spotlight, the Panos III downright and the industrial high bay Craft II.

9 End caps
Thorn Lighting
Thorn’s stand was probably the most focused on sustainability in the whole show, highlighting the Zumtobel Group’s Circular Design Rules for new products, but most eye-catching were end caps printed from plastic recyclate.

10 Geo
Lightholm
This streetlight features an elegant rear-mounted electronics panel which is accessible without tools and whose plug connector instantly disconnects the power. The light engine and driver can be easily upgraded and reconfigured.
