Legislative actions and controls to stop illegal free-riding through online-platforms
EucoLight are to host an event in Brussels the afternoon of 6 November to discuss:
Legislative actions & controls to stop illegal free-riding through online-platforms
E-commerce means that more and more consumers now purchase through online marketplaces. Therefore, it is increasingly important that companies operating in this way fulfill their environmental obligations regarding financial contributions to waste management. But all too often, they do not. The scale of their non-compliance has reached disturbing proportions.
Over the last 2 years the issue has been raised at EU level through workshops and studies. These have raised awareness of the scale and impact of non-compliant online sales on Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) systems.
The event will showcase the work now being undertaken by Member States to tackle this issue. It will help create a road map for driving compliance within online marketplaces.
Please come and join us to debate and get a clear picture of the latest multi-level developments with:
- Representatives of the EU institutions
- National law makers and enforcement agencies
- Actors in the Producer Responsibility chain
- Specialised analysts
- Online operators
