AI ‘to make environmental metrics easier’

AI-generated LCAs

The use of artificial intelligence is set to make the creation of environmental metrics such as life cycle assessments (LCAs) easier, it was claimed this week.

OneClick LCA, the Finnish-based platform which helps manufacturers compile documentation for their products, including luminaires, says that its new AI-assisted upgrades will improve workflows, reduce the risk of quality issues, and scale carbon transparency.

Designed to boost productivity and quality, the AI-assisted features help manufacturers ensure consistent quality, meet regulatory demands, and produce more accurate sustainability data at scale.

The company says that 80 per cent of manufacturers cite EPD complexity as a key barrier, according to One Click LCA’s 2025 Carbon Experts Report.

With the new AI-assisted upgrades, users can streamline key tasks, from verification workflows and design modelling to report generation, helping teams deliver compliant LCAs and environmental products declarations (EPDs) more easily and with greater confidence.

‘Companies face increasing pressure to deliver accurate sustainability data at scale, under tighter regulations and scrutiny. One Click LCA’s AI-assisted tools are designed to scale sustainability — enabling verification workflows, flagging potential errors, and automating processes, improving data quality, and helping teams scale up their climate impact with confidence,’ said the company’s founder and chief executive officer Panu Pasanen.

Specifically, AI-assisted checks help identify complex issues — including ensuring correct mass, energy, and carbon balances, as well as covering formal requirements — early in the process, and verification workflows help catch other issues. This reduces costly rework and avoids submitting erroneous data to verification.
With a focus on data quality, the ‘Power Pack’ service, which includes the AI assistance, delivers three key benefits: you can scale EPDs by streamlining EPD workflows for faster and more cost-efficient delivery, and produce consistent, branded EPD reports that meet global requirements.

The latest upgrades in the Power Pack help  AEC companies produce high-quality LCAs, make informed design decisions early — even before all data is available — and communicate impacts to clients clearly and transparently.
