At the library in Aston University in Birmingham, some 657 T5 fluorescent luminaires were upgraded to LED using a retrofit kit from Thorlux Lighting.
This approach preserved 60 per cent of the original luminaire and saving 127kg of embodied carbon compared to a new luminaire.
The addition of the company’s SmartScan control system further reduced energy consumption to 50 per cent of the previous installation.
