Trilux Lighting has donated more than 50 luminaires to the Be the Change Youth Project, a Bolton-based organisation supporting young people aged 11 to 25.
The products have been installed throughout the charity’s new premises, covering exterior areas, reception spaces, counselling rooms, and general activity zones.
The initiative was led by Simon Dixon, head of end user at Trilux, who also volunteers with the police force.
He identified an opportunity to assist after learning that the charity required lighting for its new facility. ‘Lighting is not just about illumination; it can also symbolise hope and opportunity,’ he told the Circular Lighting Report. ‘By brightening the physical space of their new premises, we are contributing to the brighter futures of the young people they serve.’
Founded by Daniel Sukula, Be the Change Youth Project works to deter young people from gang involvement and anti-social behaviour through mentoring, sport, and arts programmes.
The organisation has received several local awards for its community impact. Sukula expressed appreciation for the donation, noting that improved lighting would enhance the safety and usability of the facility. ‘This support will help us create a welcoming environment and expand our activities,’ he said.
The installation reflects growing collaboration between the lighting sector and community organisations, where technical solutions are used to improve social environments. In this case, TriluxX’s contribution provided a cost-effective way for the charity to complete its fit-out while ensuring energy-efficient and durable lighting across a variety of spaces.
Based in Bolton, the Be the Change Youth Project organisation delivers programmes focused on youth development, community engagement, and crime prevention. It has been recognised at the National Diversity Awards and the Bolton Health and Wellbeing Awards.
