Auditorium undergoes T5-to-LED lighting upgrade

Healthcare Project Light Projects Evolve

A teaching auditorium used by the North London Healthcare Project has undergone a significant lighting overhaul, replacing ageing fluorescent and halogen fittings with an energy-efficient LED system designed to improve learning conditions and reduce power consumption.
The refurbishment was delivered by Light Projects Evolve alongside contractor EPS Site Solutions Ltd. The team installed new equipment from Tridonic, including LED boards, drivers, downlights, emergency exit signs and updated digital controls to give staff greater flexibility over how the space is lit during training sessions and presentations.
A centralised DALI-2 lighting controller now allows teaching teams to adjust scenes at the touch of a button, tailoring light levels and configurations for different activities.
Individual and grouped luminaires can be managed independently, providing far more adaptability than the previous system.
The upgrade introduces a combination of 4000K working light and warmer 3000K wall illumination, aiming to improve visual comfort, reduce fatigue and create a more engaging environment for healthcare professionals undertaking training.
John Bowden of Light Projects Evolve said the new control system had already made a noticeable difference, offering ‘controllability and flexibility’ suited to a standalone teaching space. He added that the improved lighting is supporting wellbeing, reducing eye strain and helping to cut unnecessary energy use.
Project partners say the result is a modern, sustainable auditorium that better supports concentration and user comfort while delivering long-term reductions in energy consumption. The revamped facility is expected to serve as a model for future upgrades across the healthcare project’s estate.
James Huntington, OEM controls and solutions manager at Tridonic UK, added:’We are proud to support the North London Healthcare Project in creating a dynamic, efficient and intelligent learning environment. This installation demonstrates how innovative lighting control can deliver measurable energy savings while improving comfort, wellbeing and usability for everyone who relies on the space.’
