Accelerating Climate Action and Circular Economy in the Lighting Industry
We are delighted to announce that Recolight has joined CAFA (Climate Action for Associations), marking another step in our commitment to sustainability and action on climate change. This partnership signals our resolve to work collaboratively with like-minded organisations to encourage climate action and accelerate the transition to a circular economy within the lighting sector.
About CAFA: United for Climate Action
CAFA is a dynamic alliance that unites membership associations from across the UK and beyond, championing the collective power of such organisations to tackle climate change. Their mission is to mobilise membership associations by giving them the tools and knowhow to lead on climate action, share best practices, and drive tangible progress towards net zero.
Why Recolight Joined CAFA: Collective Impact Matters
Recolight’s decision to join CAFA is rooted in our belief that real progress in sustainability is achieved when organisations collaborate. The challenges posed by climate change and the transition to a circular economy are complex and multifaceted, requiring coordinated action and shared expertise.
By aligning with CAFA, we aim to strengthen our efforts, collaborate on climate solutions, and help inspire the lighting industry to continue to lead on decarbonisation and resource stewardship.
At Recolight, we recognise that membership associations have a unique and vital role to play in driving climate action. By collaborating, sharing knowledge, and amplifying our collective voice, we can accelerate meaningful change across sectors.
Recolight and the Circular Economy
As the UK’s leading lighting compliance scheme, Recolight has a proud track record of enabling the recycling of millions of lamps and luminaires, preventing waste and supporting resource efficiency. Our initiatives have set new standards for industry-wide recycling and have fostered a culture of responsible disposal and reuse.Â
We are equally committed to driving circular economy principles; championing reuse, remanufacture, product design for longevity, repair, and recyclability, and supporting businesses in adopting sustainable practices throughout their supply chains.
Our decarbonisation efforts now include measuring and reporting our Scope 3 emissions so that our members and their customers know the carbon footprint of individual collection and recycling transactions. We also report publicly on our emissions progress (including where we have failed to meet our own reduction targets) because we believe that transparency and accountability in environmental reporting is vital
CEO’s Perspective: The Value of CAFA Membership
“Joining CAFA is an exciting opportunity for Recolight to work alongside other associations committed to climate action. Together, we can share expertise, amplify our impact, and accelerate progress towards a sustainable and circular lighting industry. We look forward to contributing to CAFA’s important work and learning from the experiences of others.”
Nigel Harvey, CEO, Recolight
Looking Ahead: Accelerating Circular Economy and Decarbonisation
As we embark on this partnership, our hope is to drive faster and broader adoption of circular economy principles and decarbonisation strategies throughout the lighting industry. By tapping into the knowledge and resources of CAFA and its members, we hope to be able to expand our efforts to support sector wide decarbonisation.
Join Us in Leading the Change
Recolight is proud to be part of the CAFA community and looks forward to a partnership that accelerates climate action and inspires others in the lighting industry to do likewise. We invite our colleagues, partners, and peers to join us in embracing collective leadership, because together, we can make a lasting difference.
