Ledvance has taken another step in its sustainability journey after securing Forest Stewardship Council (FSC®) certification across its European operations.
The certification means the company can now use the internationally recognised FSC label on product packaging made from materials sourced from responsibly managed forests. The scheme provides independent assurance that wood and paper-based materials originate from forests managed to rigorous environmental, social and economic standards.
Customers will begin to see the FSC logo appearing on Ledvance packaging over the coming months, helping specifiers, distributors and installers identify products supplied in packaging that supports responsible forestry.
The move forms part of the manufacturer’s wider programme to reduce the environmental impact of its products and operations. While the certification applies to packaging rather than the luminaires or lamps themselves, it demonstrates an increasing focus on every stage of the product lifecycle, including the sourcing of raw materials and the environmental credentials of ancillary components.
FSC certification is widely regarded as one of the most robust global standards for responsible forest management. As well as protecting biodiversity and helping to tackle deforestation, it promotes fair working conditions and supports the rights of local communities and Indigenous peoples.
For the lighting industry, packaging is becoming an increasingly important aspect of sustainability as manufacturers seek to reduce embodied carbon, improve recyclability and respond to growing customer demand for independently verified environmental credentials.

The certification adds to a growing list of sustainability initiatives across the lighting sector, where manufacturers are increasingly addressing not only product performance and energy efficiency but also the environmental impact of packaging, logistics and material sourcing.
