1,500 lights on offer from reuse initiative

Free lights on offer from FIS reuse initiative

Over 1,500 luminaires – many barely used – are being offered at a fraction of their original cost to industry professionals in a pioneering reuse initiative.
The lights are the fruit of a pilot project from the fit-out industry’s representative body, Finishes and Interiors Sector, designed to reduce the environmental impact of the sector and to cut embodied carbon emissions and waste from strip-out projects.
The products on offer mostly come from Cat A office fit-outs which have been stripped out when the tenants moved in.
They include suspended luminaires, feature pendants, spotlights, linear fittings and pendants. All are LED.
Hattie Emerson, project lead, says there’s been a ‘lot of interest’ in the used luminaires so far. ‘The cost case is really compelling compared to sourcing new products in the usual way.’ Some of the luminaires are discounted by up to 90 per cent.
The price of the lights includes demounting from their original location, basic packaging, up to six months storage and delivery in the south east..
The offer includes:

• 200 Trilux recessed luminaires at £10 each
• 100 Whitecroft Cityline at £14 each
• 220 Fagerhult Multilume Flatdata (110 of which are emergency) at £40 each
• 616 Fagerfult Leid G4 recessed spotlights (250 are emergency) at £42
• 26 Kreon Holon 60 at £33 each
• 203 Whitecroft CityEdge (53 of which are emergency) at £100 each
• 80 Whitecroft Oculus at £55 each

Some of the lights come from the refurbishment of Cat A spaces that in some cases were never occupied. The spotlights – Holon 60s from Kreon – mounted pendant style with a black cylindrical casing and are DALI dimmable. They are currently attached to metal mounts but can be removed from these and either hung or mounted on another kind of fixing.
