Remanufacturing experts to gather for lighting event

Experts who will be gathering

Experts in the remanufacturing and reconditioning of luminaires are set to gather in London next week for the industry’s first dedicated event on the topic.

Organised by the Recolight, the waste compliance body and authority on sustainability in lighting, the one-day conference will explore the opportunities and the challenges of this fast growing sector.

It will focus on both practical and compliance issues, including relevant legislation, standards and guidance.

Clients, both corporate and public sector, are beginning to warm to the concept of reconditioned lights to achieve both sustainability goals and cost savings. And significant tenders are starting to emerge which, for the first time, specify the reconditioning and reuse of luminaires in a project.

Taking place at the Coin Street Conference Centre on the South Bank on Thursday 27 April 2023, the event is titled ‘Lighting Remanufacture – Making a success of luminaire reconditioning and reuse’.

Simon Fisher of F Mark will explore the ways we can sell the concept to our clients; Natalia Duffy of Arup will look at lighting design with reconditioned luminaires; Kevin Stubbs will walk us through BS8887; Tom Ruddell with show what a testing and compliance regime looks like; David Clements of future designs will show us how to remanufacture at scale; Andrew Nixon of Gamma Illumination and Darrell West of Eco Fix Energy Solutions will walk us through some successful remanufacturing projects.

A panel discussion of leading remanufacturers and lighting brands will discuss how the industry can overcome the barriers to the reuse of light fittings. The panel, formed of both manufacturers and specifiers, will look at the barriers to the adoption of a reuse culture in the lighting sector and discuss ways in which those barriers could be overcome. Panellists include Alison Gallagher of Arup, Tom Ruddell of EGG Lighting, Martin Thompson of Tridonic, Antonina Crino of Signify,  and Howard Laurence of Commercial Lighting Systems.
